Default Fuel in Oil

My oil is very black and seems watery to me. This is my first diesel and I have read that this sounds like my oil is contaminated with fuel. The truck has 85k miles, so I want to get this problem fixed while the engine is still under warranty. What is the cause of this condition and what will have to be done to get it fixed? Am I going to have to fight with the dealership to get this taken care of? I am about to do an oil change in the next day or 2 and I am going to send the oil off to Blackstone for analysis so I will know for sure. Any info on this condition will be greatly appreciated!

Keep an eye on the oil level after you change the oil. If the oil level rises then you know you have a problem.

Yep, check out your oil analysis, save some oil from your change in case the dealer want an independant check, see what happens.

If it turns out to be fuel in the oil, what is the fix? Are we talking major surgery here?...possible need to install a new engine? I would be very concerned with what damage could have already occured in the engine.

BTW - Thanks for the welcome. Looks a nice forum. I look forward to gleaning a lot of knowledge here!

these 3rd gen engines will blacken oil within 500 miles. . .it is all about the injection cycle and the creation of soot that goes into the oil.

just as jake said, the one way to tell if you do have fuel in your oil is a rise in your oil level.

another way to quickly tell if something is funny is to get a white paper towel andput a fewdrops ofoil onto it(3-5 drops). if you see a clear ring forms around the oil then there is something fishy possably going on.

Possibilities are injetors, a cp3, or maybe just some seals. You won't loose your engine becuase of this unless you don't keep an eye on the oil level. If it gets to far overfull you could have really really bad stuff happen

Thanks guys. I guess I will have the oil analyzed and then go from there. I will let you know what the results are.
