Default rolltop tonneaus

i know there have been a few threads on tonneaus, but can anybody whos used a rolltop tell me how much luck you ahve had keeping water out? some claim to be almost watertight... i like and want the weather proof-ness of an over the rail hard tonneau, but i want the convenience of a rolltop. thanks for your input!

I have an Access Lorado cover and it is watertight as far as I have noticed. They have a foam weatherstrip that goes on the front. Also, the crossbars are self contained so you can just roll it up and go. I also like how when it's rolled up and secured, it is not touching the cab. here's a link:

thats kinda what i am looking for, i just dont like the rolled up look when its, well, rolled up. there are some that store under the top of the rails, therefor, out of sight when rolled up. kinda like http://www.pace-edwards.com/

Are you talking abou t a rolltop that rolls up in a coil? I've heard that they can be kinda hard to roll up if you get any dirt in the grooves or if ice forms in the grooves.

I had a Pace Edwards Jackrabbit on my old truck. It looked good and sealed really well when it was brand new, but after about a year the vinyl faded to a gray, and water started coming in from the seal at the tailgate and along the front right behind the window. I've heard from a few guys though that the Pace Edward Full Metal Jacket is the way to go though. I haven't heard a bad thing about them yet. Except for the fact they cost about $2500 CAD installed where I am.

well , when its folded it folds onto itself so the total space it takes is the size of 1 panel. 1 panel is about 1.5' and its sitting above the rails. Its not hanging below so you have all the space under. I work in the oil field and havent had any problems w/ it.
