The guy writing this is effing retarded. The 6.2L was a horrible engine built on a gas block... And he said something about maintance on the fuel system which included replacing the injectors and injector pump if needed. Thats not really simple maintance..
These engines can perform satisfactorily for 300,000 miles and more, under ideal conditions
-He's saying it can last longer but majority of people don't know because they sell it by then.
For a diesel pickup from the early Eighties, probably one of the best choices is the GM 6.2L.
-I thought 12V didn't come out till mid/late Eighties.
Such conditions would include regular oil and filter changes, valve adjustments, fuel system service (including fuel injector and pump replacement, if needed), and cooling system service.
-While yes its not simple maintenence its better than having to replace the whole block.

on a 6.2 you will be replacing the whole block because the head gaskets will leak and pit out the fire ring sealing surface on the block. Thats 3out of3 that I have seen anyways. All were taken care of and all had less then 150k on the clock. Junk engine I'd take a 6.9 over it any day.
I had a 96 chevy dually and it gave me 260,000 trouble free miles. Now I have a 07 dodge with the 6.7 .It is a piece of crap! At 10,000 miles the slave cylinder went out. At 30,000 miles the injector pump went out! At 35,000 the U joints went out (so they say....They put a complete drive shaft on) AT 37,000 the clutch went out.( they changed the clutch, pressure platesthe flywheel and slave cylinder...this tells me they know they have a problem) I am not happy with my dependable dodge.[>:]

My buddy had an old '84 6.2L Chevy with 750,000 KMs on it. The only thing he ever had to replace was the fuel pump at about 400,000. Other than that, totally problem free.
