ya' they average around 250-300 inches a year. My uncle sold his snowmachine because there was to much snow to ride! A few years ago he sold it because with it being stored behind his garage, then getting a couple feet of snow, it was to deep a hole to crawl out of so it sat there buried in the snow all year. Anyway, the kewenaw is some of the best riding in the state, the trails are everywhere. I have friends that love making the ride from Copper Harbor to the Lake of the Clouds every year. They have a large sign there shaped like a thermomater that measured record snowfall in 1979 I think. It was somewhere around 373" in one year or somewhere around that. The first snowfall was in October with the last one the first of June I believe. To much winter for me! I like no more than what we got, keeps the ground from freezin' to deep. I hate having to run my water all the time to keep things from freezin'

lol, thats funny to hear about other gung hoe snow guys! i think the average times a year that guys gotta plow snow here is about 15 give or take a few and salting maybe double that. if you stay busy enough 15 snows can put alot of money in your pocket and if you are salting money just adds even faster. the salt set up i was thinking about getting out the door is about $5500 new but im hoping to find somthing used for half the price. i see it as go big or go home, alot of people have the little salters that hold bags of salt but i want to be able to drive to a supply yard and have a loader just dump a yard or 2 on my truck and call it a day! how much snow came in your "storm of the centry" mayfair?
I agree. We only get snow 4 or 5 times a year but after you factor in all the saltin that's done when it gets a little icey, theres good money to be made. Since I already have a skid loader I just use that to plow but I was still able to make around 800 bucks the first good snow we had. And you are right, my loader has foot controls and it'll beat you up after a long day on that thing. Add it 15 degree weather and wet snow all over your legs and feet and it can make for a pretty cruddy day. Still a blast though!
