Default Heater and A/C problems

My selector **** doesn't change the location of air blowing out of my vents. I hear it's a possible blend door or it's motor. Can I access this through the back side of the glove box or how..? This time of year I need the Defrost. I have an extended warranty, but I don't think it's covered....
Thanks

I think there is a TSB about your problem. I'd check with the dealer to see before tearing the dash apart.

this is a common problem and yes. . you have to remove the entire dash to get to it. most likely the acuator arm is broken, or the door itself cracked.

Just had mine replaced under 36/36 waranty. Dropped it off at 8, was ready at 2. Stealer said it was the broken blender door thing. Made me second guess not getting my extended waranty. I'm at 35k and change right now

when in doubt, take the vehicle in with an extended warranty. if the problem is not covered, maybe they can find somehting else that is so you do not have to pay the minimum fee to look at it.

KillerCummins

you can still buy an extended warranty for the truck.

just look around.

my "father in law" just got an offer in the mail for an extended on his 99 3500 ctd.

he called my dodge service guy about the company and they are very reputable.

for less than $1000 (I do not have the exact amount), he has his whole drive train covered now!

especially good since his clutch or input shaftis screwin up.

I have the extended warranty. It covers A/C and heater, but doesn't state blend door or it's motor.

Check your vacuum pump and lines. It could be a simple vacuum leak or your vacuum pump is bad. The blend doors work off of vacuum.

I called for a quote on several of them and the cheapest one was around $1,800. It didn't cover a lot of stuff and had a $100 deductable. For $1,000 I'd be interested.
