Default Gear Oil Capacity

I just changed out the front and rear diff with Mobil 1 75/90 on my 03 2500. My rear only took 3 3/4 quarts and the front to like 2 1/2 quarts. Is this right I went to about a 1/4 inch below the drain hole. If i add another quart to either diff it will start to flow out. I also measured the used oil and it was roughly what I put in.
