Default K&N air filter?

The local parts store has drop in K&N air filters for my 5.9 on sale, and I have a 30% off coupon. the filter will end up being like $32.00 bucks. Is it even worth it. Seems likenobody has anything good to say about K&N, I have never used one before.

I've used K&N filters for 15+ years and never had a problem. Its always been worth it to me, no matter what the vehicle, but especially in a turbo. If you can spend more I'd recommend something like this instead:

they are nice if you dont mind:

takin a day to clean them....
washing with soap and water
allowing them to dry
applying new oil coating on it
finally re-installing it

I got one. No complaints. I seem to be the minority around here though.

In dusty conditions, these filter wraps help to cut down on the cleaning interval:

I don't see one for the drop in type filter though.

Have one. Like it. Never had problems on previous trucks with them.

As long as you clean them properly and don't over oil them, you shouldn't have any issues.

I just keep my stock filter in a Zip-Loc bag in the garage so I can throw it in while I'm cleaning the K&N.
