Default Jet A fuel.

Has anyone mixed Jet A fuel with diesel fuel. Can Jet A be ran in a diesel and if so, what was the ratio. I read somewhere that someone was running 100% Jet A in their truck but mixing it with tranny fluid for lube. He was a mechanic at a major airlines and the fuel they would train from planes during routine maintenance would be discarded. He was able to have this fuel for free versus disposal. Any help is already appreciated!

Mike.

As noted, the main problem is the lubricants that are not present in the fuel.

The other issue will be that Jet A burns hotter than diesel.

I've put all kinds of crap in our military HMMWV's, but then again those are as high tech as two tin cans and some string.

theres a guy here that I know from my VW days who drives a ford diesel and runs 100% jet A.

he gets it from work (life flight chopper tech) . so yea, when maintenance is done to the chopper, he gets the "trimmings" from it.

I imagine it would be like running kerosene, since Jet-A or JP-8 is similar to kerosene. If you mixed it 50/50 with diesel it would probably run okay but experience lower MPG since it has fewer BTUs per gallon.

the 2nd gen 12 valves could probably run it ok, just have to add some 2 stroke oil to it.

24 valves would burn the injector pump up since the fuel is so dry.

HPCR's could also burn it, but I would be concerned with premature wear of the CP3 and the injectors.

would I do it. . .NOPE
