Our county recycling center takes the filters after they have been drained. I usually dump my waste oil back into the original oil containers, and after I dump them in the recycling tank they take those too. Now I'm sure there is some built in cost for all of this in my county taxes, but other than that no charge.

On a side note, I deep fry outside alot, go through at least 5 gal of peanut oil during the cooler months, they take that used oil as well. Of course this time I am thinking about straining the hell out of it and dumping it (at a controlled ratio) in my truck during the summer months. I dunno yet.

I checked into to having the "Stealership" change out my fuel filter and they said that it would take .8 hrs which translated to about 80 bucks. They said that to change out the 6.7 's fuel filter the front driverside tire and wheel well moulding must be removed. Then there is unobstructed acess to the filter. Seems like the 5.9's had a great way to change the fuel filter.

I changed my 2007 5.9 fuel filter in about 10 minutes. Unscrew the cap with a ratchet and pull out the filter. Its so easy even a caveman can do it. Dont spend the money at the dealer.

That 's on a 5.9 I have changed one on my buddy's 5.9 in about 10 min or less. Big difference on the 6.7 's . If there is an easier way than having to pull the front tire and wheel well moulding I wish I knew of it. Sounds like it's going to be a big pain in the **** or go to dealership...

In case anyone doesn't know, oil recycling companies PAY for used oil. One the average .50 to .75 per gallon. Then the oil change companies charge customers afee to dispose of it as well. Nice racket.

changed my filter today. it took about an hour, remove the 4 hex head screws (8mm) securing the inside wheel well liner. watch out for the wire that is darted into the back of the liner so you don't rip the harness out. had to remove the flare and mudflap, climb over the tire. unplug the wire, had to use a screwdriver and a hammer to start spinning the filter canister. the drain covered the front end in fuel. put on the new canister re attach and re install everything. prime the system per the manual and check for leaks. if it wasn't 10:00 A.M. it would have been a 2 - 3 beer job. if you ask me it is kind of rediculous for a normal maintnence item. still easy enough to avoid the "stealership". seems like you 5.9 guys got it easy!!!!
