Road Trip Necessities
I normaly keep an extra fuel filter in my truck at all times. . . basic metric and sae tools, floor jack rated for 5K, extra brew, chains, 20lb sledge, axe, 2 GPS's, 10,000lb ratchet strap, bungee's, Ruger .44mag, and a partridge in a pear tree.
i'm for always being armed too....but i'd be leary of traveling to several different states w/ it.
i just got a wind up flashlight for x-mas...handy as hell, bright, lasts quite awhile. i got tired of dead batts. in the mag-lite.

Lets see. A few tools, couple of fuel filters (someone else might need one) jumper cables, various straps and rope, flashlight. ,Dual band Mobile, dual band HT, work and personal cell phones (2 carriers), GPS, Ipod.

I didn't think you could use starting fluid on our trucks because of the grid heater?
Aside from what everyone else mentioned, take a copy of the emergency contact list that Drew made up.

i always have my GPS, tow straps, jumper cables, fuel filter, flash light, and a few loose tools in my tool box. i like to have things that way i know i am covered and if and when someone is in need of help i can be the man to provide it
funny you should ask though because i just took this picture on my recent trip to florida for new years and its my only 2 things i need to drive on a road trip...... me and these 2 guys have done some big drives in the past

Last I checked, it is legal to carry a hand gun if you are traveling out of state.
very much so depends on the state, even if you have your CCL (concealed carriers license). for a lot of good info on that stuff, check out http://handgunlaw.us/they seem to have the best and most up to date info
