RE: Trailer Brake Controller
Was it easy to install, or did you take it to the dealership? I can take a motorcycle apart but working on the truck makes me a bit nervous (alot more working parts).
i have had the cheaper but i currently have the prodigy.. i have found it to work the best..
I have the prodigy and I think it is horrible. I have not found any that work worth a darn. I am going to get a Brakesmart as soon as I save up some $$$. It is integrated with the current brake system, like what Ford started doing a few years ago. I towed with a buddy's Ford that had that feature and I must say it is about the only thing that I liked about the Ford.

The brakesmart is supposed to be top notch, but I think it's about 4 times as much as the prodigy[:@] It's funny, its like people think that tieing into the trucks brake system is something new. Thats how all controlers USED to be before antilock brakes. My 75 F250 has one that is over 30 years old now and it works like a champ. The harder you step on the brake pedal, the harder the trailer brakes come on.
I think all trucks should come with an integrated brake controler these days. It would eliminate the idiots that buy the cheapest controler they can find and then wonder why their trailer jack knifes every time they have a panic stop.
i installed my reese brake controler in about 10 min the hardest part was finding a place to mount it . the wireing was so easy my son could do it ! Dont be scared to try this one if you can connect four wires together you have it made . good luck

I'll gladly pay 4 times as much for one if it actually works. I can justify the extra $$$ the frist time I lock up the brakes on the truck and my $50k trailer with $15k worth of gear and horses doesn't swing around and jack knife on my $30k truck . When its $95k vs $435, I'll choose the $435.
