Default Little extra dough

Well today I was surprised with a chem scholarship from my school. I had already paid the tuition in full, so now I have got a little chunk of change to play with. I cant decide if it should go towards the truck or in the bank. What do you guys think?

The bank would be the smart way to go.

The truck would be the fun way to go.

Just spend it on the truck. That's where it will go anyway.[8D]

Thankfully, no kids for me--heck I'm 20 still a kid myself. I just spent about 500 on autometer gauges. I know the truck would love a fass and line-x(it told me so) but I hate seeing money go.

Do yourself a favor and start a Roth IRA if you haven't already. Buy a toy or two for your truck and invest the rest.Buying shares ina mutual fund doesn't sound like an exciting way to spend money when you're 20 years old (or even for us older guys), but I am 37 now and I really wish I would have started investing when I was younger. I started in my early 30s and now am putting money away in various investments, but there is nothing like starting early. Don't worry about the market taking periodic dips, because your investment horizon is 50 years hence.

Joel. . .Ive got a Roth IRA, S&P500, Money Market, and now my TSP. . .been putting a little away here and there now for the better part of 10 years, probably the best use of my money asside from buying my house.

infact my S&P money market and a few investments on the side did so well this year I treated myself with a smarty

Ive only been putting into my TSP for now about 4 years and it has been only going up. . .small cap index has been in the mid teens for the past 3 years, then the common stock has been anywhere from 8-12% for the same time.[8D]

Caleb. . .go ahead and take some of it and have fun. . but put a majority of it away into something that you can use in the future when you retire.

Just remember, pay yourself first, then have fun with the rest, if there is any left, which has been my perdicament as of late

I think you guys are right, I am going to put about half of it away. But there is a development, after I came into town after cutting firewood, a mid 90's powerstroke pulled out into the street next to me and was getting on it pretty good. I stepped on it too, but he pulled on me--I think he had already built boost from pulling out where I was cruising with very low boost. That got me to thinkin, this puppy needs some more juice. Since the tranny is stock, I don't really want to go much over 65 hp and I put in gauges so that means smarty, edge ez or edge comp. What do you think is the most bang for the buck?

If you haven't already upgraded your lift pump with something like a FASS, I'd do that first. It's not a motter of IF your stock pump will fail, it's a matter of WHEN. If you let it go and it craps out on ya, you'll need more than just a lift pump.
