Are you guy's watching it this year?

I absolutely LOVE IT !! My ladyfriend knows every year that when the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction is on that I'll be as useless as **** on a bull and I'll be in front of the TV all weekend watching it. This year they are breaking up George Barris's collection and sell off the original Batmobile and the Monkey's car.

Are you gonna watch it?

Barret Jackson is 30 minutes from my house..but I never attend....

I actually went to the auction in 2005 !! It was a blast. It was the ( I think ) the last year that it was cool, but not out of control. 2006 is when it blew out of control. In 2005 when I went I sat right behind Reggie Jackson, met Tim Allen and Don Johnson as well as Cheech Marin. It was awesome because back then everyone was just a person, and celebrities were amongst us. Now everythig is ropped off and it'spandamonium. I had a blast. It would have been cool to hook up with you had I known.

I used to work in Scottsdale where it is held. I have never wanted to be stuck inthe traffic or other related bs with it or the golf tournies up there.

 

I used to have a second job 2 minutes away at a gas station (overnight) from Westworld in Scottsdale.

 

I took my boss to the airport on thursday..... he was going to scottsdale, with his father-n-law, to attend the auction. His father-n-law collects some pretty sweet cars and was undoubtably gonna buy a couple more [:@].

 

The dealership owner went 2 years ago and bought 3 cars. One was a 1932(I think) Auburn convertible. Cost like $70,000.00. He said that the next time he goes, he is not going to consume adult beverages. As last count he has over 60 cars in his collection. I get to work on them and drive them around. Its pretty cool. I get to enjoy them and not have to pay for them. You can see some of his cars through the Big O streetrods link below....

 

I like to see all the old iron myself. I do watch as much as I can, unfortunetly its insanely rich guys spending insane amounts to purchase cars for 10 times what there worth. But I just like the cars. The same reason I don't attend the North American auto show in Detroit (starts today). Went a few years ago and had a blast, but the parking, crowds, and traffic turns me off. But if you want to see what you will be driving in a couple of years, thats the place to be.
