My rig is still at the CAT dealer so I put on my Borla moffler today. I have to say I like the sound. If I had to pay $200 though, I'd go with the Aero.

im curious to see what your take is on that borla... when i first bought a stainless system i bought it used and the guy told me it was a borla system. it came with the down pipe, a muffler, and the piping going all the way back and it was the WORST sounding thing ive ever heard. it could of been that he had the muffler mounted close to where the cat was or it could of been the muffler its self but for all i know it was nasty. the only thing that got me was it was supose to be a borla system but it did not say borla anywhere, not even on the muffler. i think i got screwed on the brand name cause a name as big as borla, you would thought it would have its name everywhere[sm=confused06.gif]

I noticed too that there was no name on it. Bought a cat back for my kid and it was embossed on the casing. I figured Summit knew what they were selling. The dimensions weren't identical to the catalogue. Maybe I got taken too. After I've put some miles on it, I'll report back.

i bet even if i did get screwed on the brand name that if i removed and replced the muffler where the stock one was it would of sounded better but instead i went w/ an aeroxl. when i first installed the "borla" kit is sounded like a rice burner.... it was so imbarrising!

I put mine back just before the piece that goes over the axle. Other than that it's straight piped. Maybe that makes a difference.

the cat is there for emission control, the muffler is there for noise control, how do you guys get around the aforementioned. where i live, the aircare is a cash grab pure and simple, but don't **** with it because you will pay in the long run to make it "clean and quiet" again, by the way i love the sound, i'm just curious what the end around is.

another thing i just thought of, with the jake now installed, there is a straight through sound from the jake that comes through the tailpipe, quite a different sound.

It won't cost me very much at all if I have to put it all back on. I still have the stock exhaust and a quick trip to the muffler shop and 50 bucks will get me legal again.

I'm not real sure, i think the XL is with a resonator and the other is just a flow thru muffler.

That's exactly right.

All Aero's that you see listed with an XL have a built in resonator, whereas the others do not. I have no clue what the difference is though because I think mine sounds exactly like Buzzy's, and I have a resonated version and I thin Buzzy went for the regular Aero.
