Looks like the final $ amount of the stimulus package has beed agreed on. $600 for singles makeing $75k or less and reduced amount up to $87k and $1200 for couples earning $150k or less with a reduced amount from $150k to $174k.
But you won't see a check till June though.

Let see we had enough deductions this year with medical bills and lower pay do to wife being ill, so we didn’t have to pay federal taxes this year so we will only get $300. What a load of crap! I bet next year my state will want us to pay state taxes on the $$ the feds hand out just like we had to pay state taxes on last years federal refund [:@]

 

No you misunderstood. If you made an income but it was low enough that you payed no tax, you get 300. If you made for example $75k and you had deductions to lower your tax bill and actually got a refund, you still get the $600.
Now if you are saying that you had enough deductions that you actually payed ZERO Tax and you got a refund for every penny you payed in through the year, you still get the $600.
You must be getting one hell of a refund if thats the case.

I fail to understand how the government can claim credit for "stimulating the economy" by returning your money to you, after confiscating it from you in the first place...

If a friend snatched 30 percent of your earnings, blew it like there was no tomorrow, went into debt way beyond even that, and then decided to go further into debt just to "give you back" $600 of it... would you really get this excited?
