hey all, got the ram back today with the jake and the gear change, the pull change with the gears and the slowing difference with the jake are fantastic. i would recommend this to anyone. the jake setup is one great and intricate setup, i was most impressed with the on/off switch, mounted right on the shift lever, very, very professional looking, no after market look at all, and boy does it work, and boy does it sound good.

the biggest laff i got was the hard plastic decal that comes with the package(i'm a decal freak) it is seven inches long and 3/4s of an inch wide, it has sticky tape on it so i put it right below the cummins decal on the fender, the decal read "jake brake" my name is jake, so far two friends have asked, "hey, jake, ya change your last name", bwahahahahahahahha.

there is one place I'll agree with you, I have some stout acceleration due to my 4.10's, but I wish I had the change laying around to get one of them fancy overdrive units.

hey brian, my ram is the '07, 5.9, 48re, came stock with 3.73 and was just changed to 4.10, mainly because of the 2000 lb upgrade of trailer weight. i added the "jake" to help with braking of a 38' fiver.

Is the switch to lock up the torque converter activated when you turn on your jake brake switch located on your shifter? I'm curious on what all the switches and other hardware is involved in installing a jake brake. If my plans pan out, I may get a 16' enclosed featherlite trailer sometime down the road. Its only a 7,000 lb gvw trailer, but I know how much a jake brake helps. If there is any detailed instructions/write ups that you or anyone else knows about, let me know[sm=smiley16.gif]

with your 07, the tranny has the programming to lock-up the torque converter without any external boxes. this began in 06 I believe. the exhaust brake kits available today just interface with that programming and tell the TC to lock up when the exhaust brake is activated. before that you had to get an external lock-up box to be able to use the exhaust brake with the 48RE.
