Default 06 latest flash

I have a May 06 build truck. There are later flashes available for the ECM but I am gun shy to have them done. My last truck ('04 Ford 6.0) got flashed so many times I lost track, and it seemed to me that it got worse instead of better. I have also read that the flash for '06 trucks raises the base idle to 850 and also has some other undsireable effects. My main concern is that my truck gets pretty good mileage 19 - 20 empty and easy driving. I would not want to do anything to mess that up. Opinions and preferrably experiences are welcome.[/align]

Personnally, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Are you having issues that the flash would fix?

My 06 has the same code from when it was made in 8/05. Like you I'm gun shy to let them flash it being many have said some of the flashes give better mpg and it already gets better mpg then some other do. But then some say they lost mpg after a flash and had other problems. Like you said what to do is the big Q!

My 06(Feb build date)has been "flashed" twice for poor mileage and it didn't help.

gtx, I think you are up to the latest flash. What is your idle speed? Has your mileage suffered any after the flash?

Nick, we talked about this a while back, last week of Nov. or so... I ended up having a buddy at the Dodge storeupdate the ECM, and I've not had a long crank time since... or a ses light for that matter. I have not noticed any change in mileage, and I've calculated nearly 20mpg on a trip to Canada. My vote goes to get the ECM updated. I was gun-shy too... but I'm happy now that the truck is fixed.

as soon as my truck is up to get an oil change, it's getting flashed. I have nothing to lose. I Only get about 13mpg on the highway and anywhere from 11-14 in town. So it's going to get done. I would love to see 16mpg once in a while like some of you.

Thanks for the replies all. I was talking with the new master diesel tech at my dealer about injector issuesand he was pretty adamate about doing the flash. I may let him go ahead and do it if he continues to push, but I really need to keep my mileage good because of my job. They pay a car allowance for me to drive my truck and to qualify I gotta keep the milege up there.
