Default Will buy a new truck soon. Need help supercharging.

I recently started a post in the 3rd gen forum because I had my eye on a Ram 1500 HEMI truck. Here is the link:
https://dodgeforum.com/m_1140782/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

If you read through the above post you will see that I have decided to get a 2006 Ram 2500 with a CTD engine (as well as a Mega cab, 4x4, ABS breaks.. the good stuff).

Now I need your help in finding some aftermarket performance enhanced parts to put on my truck once I get it. I would like to be able to supercharge the engine, upgrade tires, suspention, brakes, and anything else that you might suggest. My budget is about $7000 to $10000 (just for the upgrades). I will update this first post with all the upgrades I decide to go with.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

My first question would be, How old are you? Then my second would be that if you really want to supercharge this truck, your going to need alot more money then 10k.

I have never heard of a SUPERCHARGED Diesel. I think you should do a little research before you go and jump off the deep end with a CTD.

No need to supercharge it, it already has a turbo. Now you could throw twins on there, but you need alot of supporting mods before that can be done.

And actually Buzzy, the old 71 series Detroits were supercharged.

I'm 20.
Great, more then 10k. I don't need to upgrade all at the same time, so I could spend 10k now and more later. In your opinion, how much would I need total and for which upgrades?

If you read the original thread, I specified that I would not need a truck for the next 5 months, so I have plenty of time to research my options (with all the help from people on this forum). If you have any helpful info or links, post them here. Thanks.

What mods in particular would I need to put a twin turbo on there?

.....

Still doing research, so I will update the first post in this discussion when I find the mods that I like.

Thanks for your posts everyone!

Trust me if you get the CTD there is no need for twin turbos unless you are usingit soley as a race truck. All CTD are turboed from the factory and put out amazing numbers. With a few small upgrades (and maybe a few bigger ones)they can put out huge numbers.

Just get the truck, and a Superchips tuner, as well as good tires (I like the Toyo Open Countrys), a CAI, and go from there. The rest of the stuff I don't know all that much about.

What are you looking for out of your truck? A reliable driver that you can pound on the imports, a drag truck, sled puller? Depending on which way you want to go, there's umpteen million different ways to go and $10,000 will go a good ways, but will get spent in a hurry. I want to evenutally build my truck to handle 5-600 hp. From what I've learned, much more than that and the engine internals will need to be upgraded.

With $10,000, I'dstart withthe following:

1. Upgraded Transmission - doesn't matter how much power you make, if it aint gettin to the ground, it's worthless. To upgrade, you could easily drop anywhere from $2000-$5000 depending on the components. First thing would be to upgrade your torque converter, input/output shafts and valve bodies. That would be in the $2000-$3000 range and would handle a decent amount ofpower.

2. Gauges - Before adding power, you need a baseline to work off of. To me, the first 3 gauges should be Boost, EGT, and Fuel Pressure. ~$400

3. Make Power Gadget - There's a bunch of different ways to go with this. Programmer (Smarty, Superchips, Diablo.) Shift on the fly units (Edge, TST, Quadzilla.) Modules (just plug and play, no adjustablility.) All have their good qualities and a little research on each will go a long ways. Prices can go anywhere from $200-$1000 depending on what you go with. Some havebunch gauges built in, some don't, some only have a couple built in.

4. Upgraded lift pump - Basically, the factory one kind of blows and with added power, comes the need for more fuel. $400-$800

For performance, In my opinion, these are the big4 that will make your truck a fun/quick daily driver that will still be reliable. What's listed is a very broad scope of what can be done. Getting into specifics on each part and what other part would compliment the first part, and what part would compliment that part...well, you get the idea, it would take forever.

For look good mods, just search, there's a ton out there and everyone will have an opinion on what they like.

This is just my opinion on this stuff, so take it as such. I know everyone will have their own idea on what needs to be done, so just soak it all in. We'll be able to spend your money in a heart beat

get the truck you want. . .then get a smarty, that is all you will need. . .trust me.

the numbers you see in my sig are stock turbo, injectors, clutch, and fuel system. only mods I have are a TST box and smarty programmer and she runs like a scalded cat.

BTW, just about all 2 stroke Vee style engines from Detroit have a blower on them, the 8v92 we have in the military has a turbo sitting ontop of the blower.

now, with that said, I have seen a blower on a CTD before. . .however it was rather pointless, the stock turbo does a pretty good job, but when EGT's start getting out of controll that is when you upgrade the turbo.
