I don't know about the square tubing. If air flow worked best in square tubes don't you think the big companies would have done it? Does he have a round pipe running through the square tubing and is just using the square to cover it and mount it pretty? That would have to be some small tubing if he did (yeah I know [&:])

 

Square or rectangular tubing flows about the same if the square area is the same. Round is stronger for the same gauge and lends itself to smoother bends. I like keeping the load floor somewhat useable but those tight 90 degree turns up are very restrictive.

 

I like the D ring welded right to the fender well. Painted to match even.

 

Since it doesn't look like it's braced at the top, it looks like the square tubeing is just some sort of brace across the bottom, and the round tube runs right through the floor and crosses over under the bed, not inside of it. Maybe that square tube is for a tire chock for a dirtbike or something?

 

LOL.......I noticed that too. Looks like it's just prep work and he plans on a Spay-in bed liner maybe?

 

i think for something thats going to be a show point in my truck, i would rather go with a fabricated fit that comes from the store plus restriction would more if a minumun. but then again thats my opinion

 

I agree with Mayfair... looks like they are split under the bed and run straight up through it. The boxed steel is a brace. I can see where that configuration would leave a lot more usable bed space.
