AirDog 150 performance
My best guess is that with the 150 and using 1/2 inch fuel line the stock linecoming out of the sending unit, whichlooks to be 3/8,isn't big enough..I completely bypassed the old system. Was told if I used the stock fuel filter to take the filter out. Not sure the why's about that, but bypassed it anyway. Left it and stock fuel lines in place just in case...if I ever wanted to put it back to the stock system all I'd have to do is DROP THE TANK.
That's right ... I forgot that the dog uses 1/2" lines. I ran my fuel lines through the stock fuel canister just to keep the fuel heater operational, however I removed the filter.
I was looking at another thread where you had installed your pillar gauges. When I installed mine I didn't opt for the fuel pressure gauge, but would like to install one now. In the pics it looks like the sending unit is on the filter housing. Is this correct? If so, now that I've bypassed it where would be the best place to install in your opinion? One of the reasons I installed the Air Dog was twice while pulling my horse trailer on a pretty steep grade hammerin hard the truck completely crapped out for a split second, guarantee it rattled them horses, scared the bejesus outa me. Figured it had to bea fuel glitch, and the horror stories I've heard about the stock lift pump going and takingout the injecter pump with it kinda made me think it was time to do something. Monitoring fuel pressue seems pretty importantnow.
Monitoring your fuel pressure on a truck with a VP-44 ( which you have ) is a MUST !! I believe there is an adapter that screws into your VP-44 where you attach your fuel line as well as a gauge port. Lemme see if I can find it for ya ...
Here ya go

If you'vve already got your a-pillar used up, you can go with one of these for your fuel pressure

if you have the airdog 150 and hooked up the 1/2 inch line to the vp44 then you won't be able to put the fuel pressure fitting there unless you find a different set up because you no longer use a banjo fitting.
i followed the instructions to install the pump on my truck and i didn't think that they were to bad. mine came with another packet telling how to install the draw tube in the tank. some spots didn't give you too much detail on what to do but the install wasn't all that bad over all. i too had a hoist to use when i did mine. i just chose to use it to lift the bed so that there was no question on whether the draw tube would be as close to the bottom of the tank as possible. i thought it was actually really easy to lift the bed. there were only 8 bolts and the wiring just unplugged.
Did you run yours through the stock canister ? I did install the low fuel pressure light, but that doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence. Seems to me though thats just to tell you the filter needs changing. Should be able to use whatever fitting I need on the fuel line, just a push, pull. I'll have to go look.
