I think I'm going to go with the Pro Comp 305/65/17's ATExtreme's. It's the same style tire as Steve has and he's off road pretty often in both mud and snow and hasn't compllained yet. As a matter of fact, the only thing he said that they didn't do well on was ice, but then again what DOES do well on ice? I tow, but not at great distances or that often ( weekend warrior ). I was thinkng about going with Pro Comps regular AT's, but I like the aggresive tread pattern of the extremes.

Cowboy Bob tows. I wonder what tires he's running?

My opinion of the bfgs (that are on my truck) are Just Say No!!! They suck, and when you think they can not suck anymore, they prove you wrong. I have bad wet raod manners. I do nto feel very confortable off road with them. I just can not justify changing them until they wear out.
do you have the factory BFG Rugged Trails or the All Terrain TA. i will agree with you if you are referring to the Rugged Trails. but the All Terrain TA KO is a superior tire

Jimmy, I really wonder if you didn't get hold of a bad batch. Granted, I'm only a few thousand miles into mine but I've been extremely impressed with ride quality and traction, including wet pavement. Besides a lot of gravel roads, the only off-roading they've seen is a soupy mud and wet grass farm field. (I got back out, so I'm happy. )

Mike, I got the BFG A/T KO's in 285/75-16 (E) and thus far I love 'em... that being said, the Pro-Comps are indeed a good tire and were my second choice. Either would do you well.

So far, I haven't heard one single complaint about Pro Comps. As a matter of fact, Steve just got 70K out of his.

I been reading Steve'sposts and it sounds like his Procomps are wearing great, but I don't think he tows so I'm wondering how towing would affect the mileage. I've also been reading your posts, your trying to decide on tires also and you have a trailer so I'm very interested to see which way you go. For the past week we've been getting alot of snow, at least around my place, I live at the base of Mt Hood in Oregon. I'm sure Lilfroger has heard of it. With my crappy Michelin tires (265/70/17) I slid off of a private road and into a field fence. [sm=yikesomg.gif]Luckly only a couple of scratches, but it time to get new tires before I really do damage. I really need help!
not 100% sure I read it right but, if you have 2 tires... 1 wears out in 40k while not towing, and the other 70k while not towing, you'd have to assume that what ever increase in wear when towing between the two would track from tire to tire. Keeping that in mind, if your 40k tire wears in 30k while towing heavy & often, I would think that the 70k tire would wear in 52k doing the same towing... both dropping 25% in this example.

I have towed a few times, just not regularly.
