Cummins turbo dieselsare great!!

all Cummins since 1992/ 1993 have turbos
The Cummins diesel was introduced to the Ram series of Dodge trucks in 1989. All are turbocharged. The intercooler was added half way through 1991.

I bought my mess new in '93. I've since put 230K on the clock and get 21mpg (when I'm not playing). It's been a good truck.

Hauling what here's mine with 4800 lbs in the bed

Here's the side shot just leveled it out

Oh last year I pulled a 16 foot enclosed trailer with 7000 lbs in most time and was getting 14 MPG mixed city and road, you forget the trailer is back there.

as these guys are all saying a cummins is the way to go.... if you are pulling anything there is no such thing as over kill! to be honest i do not pull much of anything with my truck, i bought it for the mileage, longitivity, re-sale, sound, and for the bragging rights to the power i am pushing... also if i ever need to tow something i will never have to say the words "i need more power"

i give two thumbs up for going with these rigs..... if your going to do it, do it right

'92 Oil Burner,

Crimany, don't ask me. Does 5.3 sound right? I know it was a V-8 because I changed the plugs. I looked on the drivers side front for the distributor, to change the cap and rotor. Eventually found it, 10 minutes later, tucked under the cowl panel. Took me about a month to build up the courage and a label maker to change the wires. I remember the sales guy asking me if I wanted the bigger engine, I told him no because all I was hauling back then was a really stupid tent trailer.

Let me put it this way, it was a '98, 4X4, 1500, SLT, Quad, short box, auto,gasser.....I liked it alot until I put that 4300 lb boat behind it and went up a significant grade. Then it was embarassing. I used the truck to bring it down from Idaho to Salt Lake City, and it was fine, but....heading to Strawberry Reservoir from SLC was miserable.

Dokie, you had the 5.2, witch is a 318. NOT a Hemi! The 318 is a good Engine, they will last forever, but power wise, they are no match for a Hemi.

Buy the CTD, I have had a CTD since 1990 and would not go back to gas. I've towed everything from an 22 foot trailer with ATV's to a 27 foot Baja and she never missed a beat.

Here's picture of the last one I shot, should have been a picture of me with the cute LadyDeputy who I was trying to get to know a little better, when this gator shot once my brother cut his spinal cord and the bastard charged at me and the Lady, I had to quick draw and shoot him again, she was impressed with the shot, but dam I never got her number
