Question for you Dodge Diesel guys?
92 Oilburner,
Good enough. I am a bit new to this, I thought a Hemi was a gasser. So for my Gee Whiz file, if you care to, what is the difference? Is a Hemi gas or diesel? If it is a gasser, is it just a particular engine size? I could look it up on the intenet, but I have sneakin suspision you'll anwser me quicker and simply.
Handymanherb, You gotta watch those woman law enforcement officers, we can be slick.

Most I ever pulled was with my '03 3500 single rear wheel wasTruck, Dump Trailer, and load of gravel all weighed in @ 27,500. Truck handled it fine @ 55mph and didnt loose much speed on the hills. I know several people that haul this much with theirs on a daily basis. The CTD is one hell of an engine.

AndShe was to young for me , but a guy can dream and it was dark so I looked better LOL
Dokie, a Hemi is a gasser, but not all gassers are Hemis. Hemi refers to the hemispherical shape of the combustion chamber in the cylinder head. Any engine with this chamber design could be refered to as a hemi. As a matter af fact, the 5.7L Hemi, now produced by Chrysler LLC, is not a true hemi, but thats a whole 'nother story, and I think we have hijacked this thread enough for one day. If you still have questions, you can pm me, or start a new thread, and i'll be happy to explain further.
I tow a 21’ Bryant (5000 lbs.) and a 28' toy hauler (10500 lbs.) and I can’t imagine using another truck. My previous truck was a 2004 1500 Silverado crew cab Z-71 and towing the boat with that truck was moderately stressful. I also towed a 7500 lbs. tow hauler with the Chevy and it was a step shy of a white-knuckle trip. By comparison, towing the boat with the new Dodge is a Sunday cruise. The 10500 lbs. toy hauler with the Dodge, is about the same as the boat with the Chevy.
I had always heard diesel guys towing boats say "can’t even feel its back there!" and I wondered how much was bravado/boasting and how much was true. So when a friend of mine bought a new F-350 with a 6.0 PS I asked to borrow the truck to test towing my boat with a diesel powered truck. And DAMN, towing a 5000 lbs. boat is like its not even there! A months worth of research and I had my new Dodge/Cummins in the driveway.
One odd thing about towing up a grade with a diesel is that with a heavier load (10000 lbs.) I can’t accelerate up the grade, but whatever speed I hit the grade at, I can maintain. Its called torque, and it is a tow vehicles best friend.
In my family we have a stock 06 CTD 25004wd, a modified 04.5 CTD 3500 4wd w/ roughly 700hp and an 08.5 Titan LE 2wd. The titan tows are 6x12 toy hauler w/ two quads and gear fine, butwe only towthe 26ft TT with the diesels. Our Diesel towing the toy hauler averaged 15.5MPG at 60MPH and 11.1 at 70MPH, while the Titan is averaging 15-16MPG unloaded at the same speed (only about 550 miles on the titan). If you're towing only light loads and are worried about the extra diesel maintenance and the current cost of fuel (diesel averages 40cents more per gallon here vs. 87 octane), get the titan (nissan also has $5K rebates right now).
If you get the diesel, you won't regret the added power and fun of owning it. I wouldn't trade our CTD's for anything. I can pass almost anyone at anyspeed in the CTDs with our "full loads" of equipment and TT (thats stock).
The choice is ultimately yours, you'll enjoy either one.

Do any of you guys who have a CTD and live in a cold climate, have a remote starter? if so, can they advise if it works fine?
