Kev. If you think that having a factory service manual for you truck will help, I would be glad to lend you mine. Its sitting here in my book case just gathering dust. And I know, how sad is it that I have more service manuals in my book case than actual books...LOL. Let me know, I can UPS it to you if you need it.....PM me if you need it...

Since the cruise and guages are involved...could the clock spring in the steering column be broken and shorting out? When my wifes 96 plymouth van had it broken all kinds of weird stuff was happening. Winshield wipers going on and off when ever they wanted to, horn working then not, cruise gone. Justa thought. Anyway it sounds like a short somewhere to me.
let me give ya more info here....
the truck starts and drives fine for ,say, a few miles, then everything drops off at the same time. so the charge needle will show 12.5VDC to 14VDC, oil up, speedo working, temp up, and so on. then after it warms up enough, the guages all shut down at the same time. my charge indicator slowly drifts dowm to 10.5 VDC or some times ZERO!!!
OD intermittently faded into the ether over the course of a few months. with no speedo, there is no cruise.
the thought now is of the CRANK SENSOR acting a bit funny.. and I dont mean "HAHA" funny
right now the truck is as much fun as standing in front of the best looking broads in town while you have only2 pennies and a ball of belly button lint to pay for "services"
he hehehe he
with that said, the following is the result of the malfunction.
this truck was at the end of the 1st gens, when they were going electronic on more parts/ sensors. my factory dash cluster is all electronicaly controlled but display as analog guages.
it starts and runs like it should. the lack of working guages, sensor malfunction (?),and no ODall combine for a **** poor undesirable driving condition if you are going beyond the corner market...
any real suggestions are welcomed. even far off imaginary ones too.
I realize that this is basic auto technology, which I am not up to date when it come to ANY electronically controlled rides.

all factory guages (electronic) shut down in the dash
alt volts drop to 10.5 or less (controlled by pcm)
no OD (electronic)
no cruise (electronic)
engine still runs fine.
