on my 97, 5.9, with auto trans with a flashpaq, how high temp can i run in my pyro? sustained pulls with no melting of pistons, or just quick flashes. is 1300 ok or trouble?
thx drew, if i hold it wot, it jumps to 1300 pretty quick and even gets to 1400. so, if i hold it for 1/4 mile or so, jus havin fun, am i gonna burn it down?
I always start backing off the gas at 1350 and try not to sustain over 1300 for more than10-20 seconds. So far i have no melted pistons or valves. I have seen 1405 one time but backed off as soon as I saw the reading on the gauge.
thx for info. this is the first pyro i've had, {3d dsl pickup}, but havent pulled loads like this b4 so i didnt worry. my toy hauler when loaded weighs approx 13000k. pulling long hills in towing mode on the flashpaq, what temps will i see? this sounds dimb, but what do you do if temps spike in middle of hill, limp up? thx,,,,,,,
Towing in Southern California, with a10,500toy hauler, Ican hit 1300 going over the mountains. when it gets close I just back off a little (2-3 mph) and it will stay in the 1200s. My truck is stock, only a replacement muffler.
73jim, thx for reply. what muffler did you use and did it make any difference? is it mch louder than stock? you should try a f;lashpaq, tremendous mpg gains and hp too.
