1300 is ok. . .1400 is where I would back down for sustained, short bursts to that is ok, but I mean only short bursts.

I always start backing off the gas at 1350 and try not to sustain over 1300 for more than10-20 seconds. So far i have no melted pistons or valves. I have seen 1405 one time but backed off as soon as I saw the reading on the gauge.

Towing in Southern California, with a10,500toy hauler, Ican hit 1300 going over the mountains. when it gets close I just back off a little (2-3 mph) and it will stay in the 1200s. My truck is stock, only a replacement muffler.

73jim, thx for reply. what muffler did you use and did it make any difference? is it mch louder than stock? you should try a f;lashpaq, tremendous mpg gains and hp too.

Farmer, I replaced my muffler with a MBRP MK96116:

I don't want to use a programmer, warranty reasons. I'm the type of guy who gets caught for EVERYTHING.
