has anyone ever had this issue? (remote start)
Sally, sorry to hear that you've had so much trouble with yours, the Chryslers are by far my least favorite to install these on, however if done correctly with a decent unit, you should have no trouble, the biggest mistake people make is using scotch locks, the wires must be soldered to ever work correctly. The other issue on chrysler products is that people will sometimes forget to hook up the transmission power feeds and cook the tranny (on automatics).
My old Olds Toronado has had a Viper alarm and remote start on it since 1999 and has never given any trouble at all, I don't own the car anymore, but the girl that bought it from me lives here in town and I know for a fact that she uses it every day.

what color are my keys? not sure what you mean...this is the remote that i have http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DEI-A...QQcmdZViewItem. Yea im not sure what could be missing here. Cuz like i saidwhen i am sitting in the truck and it tries starting itself, if i slide the key in and turn to the on position, it will fire and stay running, if im out of the truck and try to use it like your supposed to, it just starts and kills itself...and then continues to try andstart itself...and die...
My guess is that your keys are black, (I'm talking about the plastic at the top of the key where it goes on a keyring). If the remote start cranks and it starts and then just dies, I'm now pretty sure that the Tach signal is not getting to the unit, or it has forgotten what it is.
If it was installed correctly there should be an LED (red) that blinks when you lock the doors, and there should be a pushbutton somewhere in there that is the valet/program switch. If you can find the led, and the switch, reprogramming the tach signal is easy. Start the truck with the key, then within 5 seconds press and HOLD the valet/program switch. The LED will then light constant when the tach signal is learned. release the switch.
That procedure is straight out of the DEI installation book.

ok... if the valet button is a really little guy ..i think i know which one it is. ive seen it there under my dash....its about the size of a zyrk fitting... now this LED...where would i find that? when i use the remote i hear something clicking...once if i lock it, twice when i unlock it. if you could guide me maybe to the led id give this a whirl. thanks.
when they did mine they said something about having to tap into a crank sensor. they said they had trouble reaching it as it was at back of engine. isnt crank sensor up front by dampner?
Mac, the LED is often on the dash somewhere, it blinks after you push the button to lock the doors. Or if nobody installed it, you may just have to wing it. The little button is about the size of a grease zerk, so I think you found it, I'd try starting it with the key, then push the button immediately and hold it for 10 seconds or so and let off. Shut off the truck, take out the key and try starting it with the remote.
Sally, the crank sensor is in the front of the engine, the tach lead is in the back on the firewall. All of the needed wires are available at the pcm (except door locks).

DINGO YOUR AMAZING! went out there...held the little guy down for 10 seconds...tried it with the remote and it fired up and stayed running! thank you so much..
most likely ur brakeswitch wire for the remstart is disconnected. this would cause it to turn off immediately. all remstarts are hooked up to the brakes so that if someone gets in and presses the brake without key in ignition it will kill the engine. that or the sentry key deal but that doesnt seem right because it's shouldn't run at all if no sentry key setup was done.
no, the brakeswitch works, i checked that. while it was running with no key i tapped the brake and she died. It was the valet switch needing to be pressed to get the Tach reading reset. ALLS GOOD!
