has anyone ever had this issue? (remote start)
Hey Dingo, is there a way to delay the start on an older Viper remote start? I have a Viper installed on my Ram, but it doesn't wait for the wait to start light to go off before trying to fire it up, therefore I don't use it.
SETBACK! went to use it today when leaving the girlfriends house...and its back to its old tricks....? tries to start and kills itself right away... now im really stumped..dingo?
Mac, if it's doing it again, and it worked before, then I'm going to guess that the brain box is messed up. The memory in these is supposed to be "non volitale ram" meaning that even if it loses power it should retain it's settings. The main power wire must be hooked up or it would never even try to start, meaning that there is a large guage solid red wire on the main harness of the remote start that the unit draws power from and then distributes to all the necessary circuits to start the unit. Since I don't live any where close enough to look at it in person, I'll tell you to take it to a reputible car stereo shop and have it checked, if it is indeed bad, then they can remove it and have it repaired. There is one other possibility in that it was set for "voltage sense" instead of tach, but since it worked and now quit I doubt it. Better have it looked at.
Mayfair, my best guess if yours is not waiting for the "wait to start" lamp to go out, is that whoever installed it did not wire that correctly, because if wired correctly the unit will wait indefinately for the lamp to go out. If you want to dig for it, the wire should be either Orange/black or black/orange (truck side) going to a gray/black wire on the remote start unit, the gray/black wire is located in a four wire plug with a purple/black, green/white, "gray/black" and a light green/black wires. If you locate it and it appears to be hooked up, check the connection, especially if the installer used the dreadful scotch locks, if they did, solder it.....
