I just installed a new K&N high flow air filter in my custom factory air box with cold air intake. My stock filter has 11k miles on it and was reasonably clean. I have a bit more turbo noise and the overhead believe it or not has gone from about 13.5 to 17.6 on a trip to Charlotte and back. Judge for yourself. With this combination of mods and the MBRP 5" exhaust tip (DPF back) is a real combination the works for this 6.7L.
The combination of K&N, custom cold air box and baffle removal is great.

We all now that just because the overhead went up 4.1 mpg does not mean you got that much of an increase in fuel mileage. So how much of an increase did you actually get when you hand calculated the your fuel mileage? I've even read about one guy who used a 5.9 air filter and claimed to get a 4-mpg increase in fuel mileage but many others who have tried the same thing with a 5.9 air filter did not see any fuel mileage increase from using it.

BTW, the only people I’ve read about who have gotten a hand calculated 4 mpg increase in fuel mileage on a 6.7 had to install a whole new exhaust system and as they remove the CAT, DPF and they blocked the EGR so that it no longer worked.

 

The next time I tow I'll know.

These two photos are the baffle that I removed from the intake pipe between the air box and turbo inlet on my 07.5 6.7L. The funny looking curved piece is at the bend in the pipe just before the inlet.

Is that the plastic piece that has to be dremeled out or whatever? I've heard Drew mention something like this before.
