Default making a Fummins

So a couple weeks ago the hubby picked up a '92 12v reg cab 2x4 for $1500. It needs an oil pan and an idler pulley but other than that seems to run strong. Now the rest of the truck would beat out Kevin for 'beater-of-the-month' with NO problems. Then he got his hands on a '88 F350 long-bed crew cab 4x4 with a 460 in it.

So now that we got these two trucks sitting in the driveway the plan is ... pull the 12v and drop it in the Ford. Paint the Ford and call it done.

Don't give me a [sm=ttiwwp.gif] either: you all know what these trucks look like. There is nothing special about either one except that they are in our driveway. [8D]

Once the swap is started that part I get film of

He's found a couple places on-line that specialize in the Fummins swap....but any of you guys done any of this? Any big huge red-flags we should be checking for before he starts dropping (more) money on this?

I kinda like the 2nd gen look over the Ford myself. What's with the switch? I'm sure it's cheaper and easier to just replaced the dented / rusted parts with parts from LMC

lots of stuff on ford-trucks.com
several people have done the swaps on that forum...and can you blame them. if you're in the 7.3L section, they seem to be pretty knowledgable
