well whatever they are doing..... i hope it works for them. weather or not it safes me at the pump, it would be nice to see the trucks all working together to make a better living because they are the ones getting most screwed with these prices.

ramitone.... i seen a special on tv, i think it was the travel channel or something and it was called americas best truck stops. i seen what you are talking about with the heat and air conditioning coming thru the window along with cable and music for a third of idling cost. i dont remember the name of it either but it sure was pretty damn cool!

One of two things could come out of this. 1, the price of diesel fuel will go back down, which doesnt look likely. 2, the truckers union will get a raise. BUT, that leaves the independent truckers out in the cold.

I am sure there is more to all this madness than what we see. We cant see any reason why our fuel prices jumped so high in this past year. Other than the high demand for heating oil, which is bull****. I think it is all planned. Our economy depends on diesel fuel. Cant afford fuel, nothing gets transported, everything else goes up in price because of demand. We go broke, the roman empire falls.

Thanks!! Was wrecking my brain, was gonna email my dad, he's a headhunter and has placed some execs for the larger trucking cos to find out what's its called. Yeah it is a great idea, needs to be state mandated to reduce idling, that or the guvment should subsidize apus ( not the simpsons character) being installed on rigs. Think they said it costs 8 bucks an hour to idle, thats pretty expensive when you figure your gonna idle 8 hours a day for sleep so 64 bucks of diesel is wasted and thats a huge cost to the owner oper and can't imagine what the annual idling cost is for companies like swift or Stevens trans
Or even if they just added several large fuel cells that can run 8 hours before being drained, sure the increased weight will pay for not needing to waste gas idling.

Tough steaks that tastebad for everyone!!!!(j/k) I havent heard anything in my union (a division of teamsters Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Teamsters) about the trucker strike. Maybe the unions arent backing it? Another thing, I would think more states would start allowiing double 53 ft trailers to be pulled. Yeah its prolly more dangerous but it would get more freight over the road. I dont know how it would effect fuel mileage.

It's not a strike it's a shutdown. The person who calls for a strike can be indicted under RICO statutes. It will not accomplish a thing. There are 3.4 million drivers in the country how many do you think will participate? not enough to make a difference. They will get more done if they keep calling their represenatives in congress. They also need to get their plight out to the public how many know that it takes anywhere from 200-300+gallons twice a week to run their truck and that rates on some loads are as cheap as .75 cents a mile.It does not take long to go broke.

I don't know what the heck is going on, but I'd LOVE to hear that 100K + trucks all decided to show up in Washington with their horns blaring. That would be AWESOME !!! I'm sure our "represenatives in congress" would hear that !!
