Default OT Trucker Strike

I posted this in Off Topic but dont see many of yall in there and have noticed a lot of off topic threads here, yall got something against gassers??

anyways one of my ma's employees at work is a trucker for coke, apparently theres a nationwide strike of all truckers in the works for next week.
theyre striking cause of the price of diesel

so if this happens we'll be SOL for a while, good thing ive got about 40#s of hog meat and another 80 of deer meat in my deep freeze.

but seriously if this does happen it would really cripple us, grocery stores dont keep much of an inventory, and gas stations would run out of gas since nobody is refilling them. good thing im in texas, just take a 5 foot auger and find myself some oil haha. i do have 50 gal of gas cans for when i go to the coast and theres no gas station within 70 miles and its all 4x4 only sand.

edit ******* -Midnight april 2nd. National shutdown by truckers’ union. ********

wow, that cant be good. think they might be able to change something? I totally agree with them though. Completely absurd that the oil companies are posting record PROFITS and the price of gas and diesel keeps going up.

before you oil burners start drooling and getting stiffies (or hard nips for all the gals, i dont want to hear it lilfroGer) about diesel going down. if there was to be a change it would probably be a federaly backed program that truckers or trucking co's could either write off an extra tax break or actually get refunded a portion of their expenses for the year. Dont think itll be an across the board diesel decrease. That or truckers would be issued an ID or whatever that has to be used at truck stops and then the pump would reflect their discount. eh just thinking outloud there.

theyve got new systems out for truckers when their resting its pretty cool, instead of installing apus on trucks, you park under a unit (kinda like a large scale diy carwash set up) and a large hose 2 feet wide??? connects to your window, has the internet, tv, Cooling/Heat, power source. It costs truckers a fraction of what idling costs them. i looked for it online, cant find it, cant remember the name of the co that does it.

as for the lil ol oil cos just trying to make a buck. i can see them raising rates in proportion to how much a barrel of oil is increasing, but then they shouldnt see huge profits.

I believe katrina F'ed us big time, when the refineries and platforms got nailed and prices raises, we (consumers) understood the need for the "temporary" increase in price, but the oil co's saw that we just kept on buying and buying as usual so they figured hey why not keep raising the price. Im all for taking 40,000 marines and kicking the saudis *** and taking over the oil...
I still dont understand how we didnt get any rights from kuwaitt after the first gulf war. let me get this right, we have warships and planes burning oil that we bought from you so we can to continue to protect you???

GOOD - I hope they do it !!

This country has been putting up with more and more and more S**T and us saps keep just letting it all roll off instead of taking a stand. I'm glad to see that people are FINALLY starting to give a S**T and now want to take a stand. Enough of this bulls**T !! [:@]

Firemem fired because of not speaking spanish

Hospital closing because of having to dish out free help

Healthcare

So on, and so forth. Eventually everyone is going to be out of work and THEN we'll band together won't we ??

Good for the truckers. If I had 1/2 a brain, I'd be parked there right next to them.

It's more likey we'll see what happened to the air traffic controllers in the 80's if this strike does happen. The fed will step in and have all drivers on strike fired and hire scabs under the "nations best interests" theme. But most truck dirvers now are company drivers and don't give a rip about fuel cost anyway. Although I would like to see the strike happen for a week or so I don't see it happening. [:@]

I just googled it and there are multiple places writing the same thing. I read a no name forum page that a guy in michigan was told by a trucker the same thing. I hope it happens, and I hope it works. I think we should take over kuwait. He have the power. Hell, we are the reason they are still a country, and not part of Iraq. They owe us.

IMO, our country is going under. Our economy is weak, our borders are broken, and now americans can barely afford to fuel their vehicles. What is happening? Remember the Romans?

AZ well you're in the best state if a **** storm happens, talkin bout Texas even though you're at ft hoodlum (insurance company nickname for Killeen) Texas is the only state that can legally secede from the union, and the only state that can "self sustain" oil all over the place, more cattle than ya need, large crop production, seaport for trade, and cheap labor just south of the border.

Owner opers play a big role in getting goods out of the ports so even if its just them that strike we'll have backed up ports and we do import 10 million barrels of oil a day, if container ships are backed up its going to block the tankers, although I'm sure theyll work something out to give them priority. What would really be bad is if the dockworkers go on strike.

As for hiring scabs, theyll still need cdl's and some with hazmat certs.
