Because 98-02's (98-01 for the 1500's) are notorious for cracking, and basically self destructing. They cheapened up on the plastic and did not use UV stabilizers, so after awhile the sun makes the plastic brittle enough that bumps in the road can crack it.

on my next truck im gonna line x the whole floor and might do the dash. I already get the inside of my truck pretty dirty but dont plan on keeping it for more than 2 years and thats a lil bit more than i want to spend on a mod like that, would rather buy the most important mod of them all....Fuel..........

One thing I have already found, the bed liner products are hard to keep clean because of the texture.

I got to admit that sucks... I've got 2 Dodge trucks here a 1996 that sits in the sun all the time and my 02 that stays in the garage... So far neither truck has a crack in the dash yet...

But hopefully you get that covered soon or find a replacement dash...

moparman, the 96 should not get a crack as it is 98-02 2500/3500 and 98-01 1500's. The dash redesign in 98 is when it started.

Well that good information... Then the 96 can still sit in the yard and my 02 stay in the garage... LOL!!!

(2002 left and 1996 Right)
