Default FUEL!

HI,
Ihave a dodgecummings diesel 1994, sometimes when im drivng along its seems to run out of fuel, but then will kick back on.( i have fuel)lose of throttle response while driving, but then return. While this is happeing at red lights will stall like out of fuel, but then start right back up. Starting to increass more and more. It takes the engine to warm up for this to happen though. Any thoughts to what it could be?

Bad fuel pump?

Water in fuel?

Dirty fuel filter?

Clogged air filter?

on my first mercedes 77 300D i had that issue when I'd come to a light, I'd have to give it gas just so it wouldn't crap out.
Anyways my car had a prelim fuel filter, and that needed to be replaced.

yeah the truck has to be running around 30 mins or so for this to start, so if it was the fuel pump, wouldn't it happen all the time? the engine temp is norm. then when i hit the gas sometimes it delays and there is a ping on the drivers side, then it kicks in and gives power back. But cold engine plenty of power and no problem....

Check the wiring to the VE pump. There is one wire that controls the shut down solinoid for shutting down the engine. If the wire happens to be loose or damaged it would cause the pump to shut down the fuel...

I thought 94's were the first year for the P7100's.

sounds like the fuel shutoff solenoid is going out.

I had the same type of problem with my 2002. I changed the fuel filter and air filter. While I was at it, I added a duel fuel filter on the frame.

I've had no problems since except my fuel guage works only when it wants to.[:'(]All the guages work fine except that one. Anyone have any ideas about that?
