D..d...d..d..d...d...DIESEL!!!!!!!!! They'll run 1,400,000kms. Oh wait, only a ctd. Or cat. Hmm, nobody sells a cat in a pickup. Yet. And no vehicle has No problems. But an 05 ram ctd would be the least problematic. Go get it already!
How do you figure an 05 is the least problematic?

Your in a CTD forum confused about buying a diesel or a gasser? Pretty sure we are not going to say "Gas". Doesn't matter what year you buy, cummins is a proven name and the motor will outlast the truck anyway. And ramit I thought the Tundra was built here in Indiana along with the Sequoia?

they may have built the old tundras in IN, the plant in SA is brand new, theyre even building a mirror plant in SA to double their production...

if youre commute to work is less than 5 miles or less than 10 if you live up north... wait just remembered youre in canada, id say if it takes you less than 15 minutes to get to work or you take a lot of 5-10 minute trips to shop etc youre gonna hurt your diesel because it doesnt get the chance to warm up. and that high idle will suck gas down so there wont be any fuel savings....

The diesel should outlast the gasser as far as longevity all being equal, but with proper maintanance a gas rig should run 300,000 miles. I don't think diesel trucks are meant to be beer can poppers, other words just to drive around in looking cool, ( however they sure can accomplish that) they're meant to work, and work hard, if not they don't seem to fare as well. As far as mpg, I'd be more concerned with cost per mile driven. If you're paying 40 per cent more for fuel and only getting 20 per cent better mileage then you're notsaving at all. The extra cost of the diesel engine mandates you drive at least 100,000 miles before you start to recoup that cost. That was 2002 figures. Don't know what it would be now. If I was looking for a truck today for a daily driver andoccasional hauler/tower 10,000 lbs or less I'd look long and hard at a gasser. Fortunatly for me that doesn't fit the bill, fortunate in that I really like my CTD.

I went with the 5.7 HEMI for my 07 3500 RAM. Like most have said it depends on your intended use. IMO the diesel engine will last longer, have less maintenance needs. For me the cost of diesel fuel with the little added bonus of MPG and the added cost for the engine forced me to go with the gas engine. Plus I use mine as a daily driver. Basically it is up to what you needs and wants are. This probably didn't help much but I thought I would share my thought process.

Compared to 2nd gen VP44, 53 block, steering issues and the 3rd gen 6.7 dpf, cel issues, the 3rd gen 5.9 commonrail is known to be the most reliable and dependable.
