Default Gauge lights

So got my gauges installed and working finally but I can't seem to get them to light up for night driving. I have the power going to the fuse box under the hood and the gauges come on when I start the truck but no light in the gauge. Any ideas? Should I run a wire from the gauge to the dimmer switch, which is where I had the power hooked to in the first place but thenthe gaugeswould only work if I turned my head lights on.

YES, run your light wire to the lightswitch and then they'll come on when you turn your headlights on / off

How do I do it? Do I need just one wire to hook to the gauge and then to the switch?

Im thinking there are two "blades" on back of guage, one + and one - ? Along with a red wire and a black wire? The blade + should be ran to your headlight switch and the blade - should just be grounded somewhere. Leave the red and black wires alone if they are working properly.

Just did mine this weekend and you need to pull the dimmer switch out and take wire #2 orange with brown stripe and tap into that wire and run to the pos side of the lamp and run black wire to the little panel inside the drivers door jamb and remove the plastic cover and take one of the dash screws out and use that for a ground.

hope this helps if not let me know and i will send pics

Wouldn't you want to tap of the headlight switch so they just came on with the lights not all the time?

I really don't think it matters anyways which is what the positive and negative are connected in the bulb itself by the filament- thats how you get light. Read section 4) lighting.
