Default not far OT: Reliability

I just realized something, the reason why the toyota trucks are so much more reliable than ours is because the yota's are made right here in the United States, and our "American Made" trucks are made in Mexico. Even all the parts are made in mexico and canada. Correct me if I am wrong, but arent the ricer cars and trucks more american than than the big three now?

Our Cummins engine is made right here in the USA. I don't know where the rest of the driveline is from. Some of our trucks are assembled here some in Mexico.

As far as Toyota being good. PFFT, I got my wife a brand new 2004 Sienna mini van, WHAT A POS! It was assembled in the US. There have been several recalls and several things they have not fixed to my liking. There will not be another Toyota in my driveway when this POS is gone.

My truck has had 0 recalls and any throuble I have had has been fixed to my satisfaction.

Oh, and a customer of mine had his employer buy him a new Tundra all done up. It is a fuel hog and rides like a mexican taxi cab with <1000lbs in the bed. He hated it so much he gave it to another employee and is looking at a Dodge truck. He has ridden in mine and got the bug.

LMAO ive had like 3 recalls on my dodge, thats what dodge, well american vehs do best are recalls.. also you bought a mini van, toyo sells cars (most reliable mfg out there) and trucks.... have you noticed most mfgs are moving away from mini vans.... had you bought a sequoia or even a 4 runner you would have been happy... sure youre always gonna find someone that has a bad exp with a veh, but toyo has fewer of those than american veh owners....

you always heard well toyo can build em cheaper in japan and ship em here so we can't compete

The tundra is built in the great state of texas, not mexico like my dodge.... so lets see toyo can hire US labor (starting low end production line worker is 14.50 an hour at Toyo) can pay US benefits, doesnt need the UAW (huge issue that american mfg has, look at our member Shapman, gets laid off yet still gets 80% pay.. Hrm....thank god for unions ), makes a more reliable product (yes there tons of 1980 tacos running around with 300k+ miles with a gas engine) has better resale value...

so why can they do all that in the US and the other "american" auto makers seek shelter in other countries????

Nick I am glad someone put there foot in my mouth on that one. I wanted some assurance. Seeing that RamItOne talks about the yota's so much, I figured I would post this thread and see what people had to say about it.

My truck was built inthe US right in St Louis. No problems with it yet- 1 recall for an o2 sensor- wow. Then again didn't we read earlier that nissan was gonna have dodge build them trucks down the road? All dodge trucks will be built in the us and the dodge/nissans built in mexico. What does that say about dodge trucks- nissan could of asked anybody to build them a truck.

You are one of the lucky ones then. I crawled under my truck with my creeper and had my head everywhere. Everything says Made In Mexico. There were a couple things that were canada, but mexico was everything else. I guess the important thing is my engine is American Made, thats what really matters right?

Dodge has been getting their trannys from a nissan partner since 04...

it makes sense for nissan to look for an american mfg for its trucks as sales for the titan blows and you cant lift em, my buddy at firestone gets nissans in weekly with < 15k miles where their steering is shot to hell cause of a lift and tires....
nissan certainly couldnt ask toyo to build em a truck, why would toyo agree? this is a good play for both companies because dodge cant make a car for **** but they make good trucks and the opposite is true for nissan....

the good news is dodge is sending more of its production to the US to make room for the nissan in their mexico plant... im interested to see the quad venture two stage hybrid that gm will release in 08 and that dodge will release in 2010....

itll be interesting to see how much nissan tech goes into the truck..

Saltillo's current product mix is:
Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Quad Cab and Regular Cab, Dodge Ram Mega Cab, Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab, DX Chassis Cab (Mexico Market), Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Box-off, Dodge Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab, Sterling Bullet Class 4/5 Chassis Cab (for Sterling Truck, a subsidiary of Freightliner).

St. Louis North's current product mix is:
Dodge Ram Standard and Quad Cab Pickup (Models 1500, 2500 Light and Heavy Duty).
Warren, Michigan's current product mix is:
Dodge Ram 1500 Standard Cab and Quad Cab SLT/Laramie/Laramie Sport and Dodge Dakota Standard, Club and Quad Cab pickups, Mitsubishi Raider Standard, Club and Quad Cab pickups.

so yea firemedic was lucky his was made there as most of the heavy dutys were in mex.. but like i said more of the heavy duty line will be pushed back to the states to make room for nissan..

of course the motor is in the US its a cummins, dodge doesnt own cummins, never has never will. they buy the motor from cummins.....

now this would be bad *** for a dodge to have this cummins, avg 1500 pound feet of torque....500 hp
