Just bought Diesel $4.49 per Gal. in Florida
I wish I had taken a photo at the truck stop in Missuola MT. It had an old light board sign over the highway, $1.88. They never guessed diesel would go over $1.99/gal, let alone $4.50.
we're floating around $4.45 & $4.49/gallon... havent seen $4.50 yet but I can imagine its not too far off... damn happy I got the little car to help out... it is paying for it'self pretty quick. keeping track of the costs vs diesel...its saved me a tad over $650 in 5 weeks...
Yeah we have started to look for a better MPG car. We have 2 trucks and a Durango (no cars). The CTD gets the best mileage but diesel at $4+ a gallon it is still cheaper to drive the 1500 or Durango at 13-16MPG! A car that gets 28-30MPG would cut my fuel costs in half!
Have you guy's factored in the added cost of insuring another viechle to your equations? I'm all over the place right now. To add another car to my policy it'll add another $1400.00 a year to my insurance bill. That's about $117.00 a month right off the top. If I was able to find a car that gets about 30mpg I would save roughly about $320.00 a month by driving it. Once I deduct the cost to insure it, that brings my savings down to about $200.00 a month. Throw that at the cost of a new ( used ) veichle and it's a wash. Still though, I'm going to look at a Scion XB tomorrow with 65K on it and I offered the guy sight unseen 8K for it if I like it. He told me to come take a look ( private party )
Whadda ya think?
If it's in good shape, should I go for it?
