I had the serpentine belt tensioner replaced on my 03 Dodge as part of an elaborate job designed at stopping an oil leak. The belt had not been riding correctly and now everything lines up ok and I have no oil leeks. But I get a very loud and annoying sqeal not when I start or run the truck but only as I shut the engine down. Any ideas on this? I imagine it comes from the alternator being pushed farther along than it wants to go but will it do damage? Thanks in advance.
By the way. This is a great board. I asked about starting problems after my repairs and, as everyone suggested, it was the fuel lifter pump. Replaced and it runs great now... but for the squeal.
