Default Got my Tranny diagnosed, Need Advice for upgrades

Hey all, well I took my truck to a local tranny shop to get a second opinion on the stealership telling me the whole tranny needed to be rebuilt. They drove the truck, did a line pressure test and dropped the pan, and they advised that all was fine and no problems were detected. So now other than me wanting to burn down the dealership, I think I'm gonna do some upgrades to the tranny anyway. The tech recommended a new valve body, torque converter, and a deeper pan. He was looking in summit racing mag at I think it was some BD diesel stuff and TCI. I told the owner I would do some research and see what I wanted to put in there. I know we always talk about ATS and Suncoast, so I'll look at those, but what do you guys think of any other companies? I asked if they minded if I found the parts and they just installed them, and they had no problem with that. But either way I dont really care if I get them or they do, I just need to be able to do the right upgrades without me having do get a second mortgage. Oh yeah, they also said their rate was $92.50 hr, but the owner said he would drop that like 15 or 20 bucks for me, is that a fair rate? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated, thnx

put this on your wish list
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/do...FQo1gQod930PJQ
depending on how much money you want theyll build a tranny that handles over 1,000 ft/lb torque.

good TC

heres a tranny cooler, better than a deeper pan. attaches to you existing tranny rad (not a replacement) you can also use it as a power steering cooler, oil cooler etc

what brand ATF are you running?

the cooler is around 225, just tell the wife that the dealership was right and you need a new tranny.. its all good...
the tranny place will give you around a 1,000 credit if your tranny is in good working order.

id pick the extra rad w/fan over the deeper pan, plus that pan hangs down so much lower..

the cooling does help, but our trucks do better with a greater volume of fluid.

it would be good to talk to the guy's at ATS, suncoast, or goerend.

Thanks for the replys. I did a little research tonight and i think what I can handle is an ATS or Suncoast valve body, either ATS or Mag-Tec deep pan, and TCI torque converter. I wish I could afford an ATS or Suncoast TC, but they are just too expensive for me right now. The tech said for what I use the truck for, the TCI would do the job. So what do you guys think of that possible set up?

It would help to know your approximate budget. There was a guy selling a fully built (slightly used) Goerend over at DTR for $3900, not sure if he still has it.
