Then why can two nascars run faster in a line than just one NASCAR? Not talking bout bumpdrafting. Its because the rear cars front creates a high pressure zone canceling the rear of the front cars low pressure zone (which is what slows the single car down)

we aren't talking Nascar where the two car are exactly alike. We're talking about a semi that's already not aerodynamic than adding the drag of a 8K truck behind it. You're not going to push the semi... you're only going to cause drag

I think the reason most of us don't want you back there is because if you're daydreaming when we hit the brakes, we'll lose three hours while they peel you off our IC.[:@]
But Mythbusters tested the drafting of trucks and was getting about 35 MPG with a Dodge Magnum at 10 feet. The improvement was still substantial at muchsafer distances.
If anyone wants to draft me, feel free. I'm hourly.

and you'll still get the ticket for for following too close so there went your fuel savings

Ya know, I truely wasn't drafting per say as the Nascar dudes run. I don't know what the legal limit is other than, what is it?, 3 seconds behind someone. I was traveling far enough away to move or stop in an emergency, but close enough to fill the void that the trucker was making while punching thru the atmosphere.

Ty, do ya think that at 50 to 60 feet, that he was dragging me, or was I sort of filling in a disturbed nutreal pocket of air?

GTX, I agree that tailgaiting could cause more problems than the fuel savings are worth. I'm just wondering if there is a safe distance behind a trucker that someone can drive without causing the trucker additional fuel issues, but still finding an improvement in mpg's.

RamIt, I didn't see the game last night, but listened to some of it on the radio. Kind of a bone headed move with the pyro and extinguishing eh? Careful now of your predictions, Hornets up by one, and they can win on the road.

most chipped windshields are covered for free by your INS co. All they do is fill the crack with a clear gel and heat it.

Az you do have usaa right?????
No I do not have them as my auto insurance. Just homeowners insurance. I tried to get a car loan through them when I was 18 and they 21% interest for a $7,000 loan. Needless to say I have not associated with until january when I needed homeowners insurance. Maybe I should give those bastards another chance. Maybe they can get me a lower insurance rate than state farm on my Ram.

when I used to travel for work, I would draft semis with the full size 1 ton chevy vans we had.

I drafted a semi at 100mph from albuquerque to the az border one night

I draft when able.
