04QC4X4 My dealer told me they couldn't program above 275x70x17's. So I told them max setting. My speedo is dead nut whenever I go by one of these School zone radars or the mobile ones. It's within +/-1 MPG. This didn't cost me anything they did while my truck was still under warranty.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

They should be able to program for revs/mile up through the 05 models. Starting in 06 the only choices are certain tire sizes.

That's what I thought, but the dealer disagreed with me. But then again, both the guys I talked to seemed clueless. I would pay $45, but not if its not going to get me much closer.

Today I spoke to my dealership regarding re-calibrating my speedo. They didn't mention anything about certain sizes being unacceptable. Said that they could correct it for $40.00

Not too bad.

No that's not bad. Everything has to be complicated with the dealers here in town. Good luck with your's.

Methos is correct. 3rd gens until 2005 could be re-calibrated using revs per mile. 2006 and up can be re-calibrated up to a 285. I know this because I have done this on 100's of trucks..And I will re-calibrate any forum members for free...

I wish there could be more competent service guys out there like Parts/Service. I guess I'll just have to try to convince my dealer to try and reprogram with the revs/mile, but I don't know if they will do it. The other problem I have is that they are so busy that they said I would have to drop it off a leave it for a day. I don't know how long it takes for them to program the truck, but I can't imagine it takes more than 15 minutes.

Hey David, I researched the 285/70/17's and found their diameter is 32.8"
My 19.5's are 34" diameter, so in effect am I wasting my time in going to a dealer to re-calibrate my speedo?
Nice of ya help out fellow forum members, I just live too far away to take ya up on the offer.
