Default 2 cycle oil + increased MPG....

Well I've been adding 2-cycle for 4 tanks now. With that and with letting the torque get me up to speed, I've seen a 1 mpg increase. Not a huge number but still an improvement.

The problem is that now I have used all the 2-cycle I had on hand for my boat and I can't seem to find any regular 2-cycle (besides marine) that doesn't come in those tiny little bottles. The Wal-MArt in my area only seems to have the mini bottles and marine as well.

I haven't checked at places like NAPA or such yet but do you guys have any suggestions where to look? I would buy it by the case if I can find it.

go to your local marina.

1mpg, sounds like its a case of those stupid "make you bigger pills" you see on tv at night, god those are annoying, anyways a 1mpg isn't measurable. After a large sampling and its a consistant 1mpg gain then that's good. What ratio are you running? What's the cost of the oil.

Yeah, Walmart should have the gallon jugs. They're blue with a green label. I use them all of the time. I use 1oz per gallon.

I tried that too. I didn't seem to get any better MPG. I'm currently using 1/2 oz 2 cycle and 3oz of Super Concentrated Lead Substitute per tank. That seems to have worked for me. I started on 1/2 tank and got 1 MPG better. This time with a full tank. Iprobably won't go through this tank for acouple of months. I try to ride my bike all the time.

For some reason I can't find it up here. I am going to try a different Wal-Mart.
I use 1oz per gallon of fuel. I think that comes out to 200:1 or something like that

Here is the hand calc for the last 4 tanks. I tow an enclosed 12' trailer full of tools about 90% around town, between 30 and 60 mi/day

Tank Miles Driven Gal Used MPG
1 360 28.37 12.69 Added 2-cycle this fillup
2 192 16.13 11.91
3 443 28.15 15.74 75% highway driving w/boat
4 418 31.12 13.43
5 413 29.73 13.89 Changed fuel filter

I got the truck in Sept 06 and I've been hand calc since Jan 07 My ave MPG currently is 12.8 [:@]
I don't know if the current improvement is the oil or getting off winter fuel.

?? Why are you using gasoline lead substitute in a diesel? Never heard of that one before.

It should look like this...

1 ounce of oil to 1 gallon of fuel is 128:1 ratio... 1/2 Ounce oil to 1 gallon is 256:1 ratio... If you need to calulate ratio here is the calculator for it...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002-d...-oil-ratio.htm

Now here is some of my trip I made and the results of the trip...

Boise, ID Cruise set at 55 MPH...

Postfalls, ID Cruise set at 55 MPH...

Weiser, ID Cruise set at 65 MPH...
http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r...I/Weiser%2065/

As for me I was getting 16-17 MPG without... Now I'm up to 21-22 MPG... Thats a 5 MPG gain for me... That is measureable... Check the signature...

I thought if it helped 60-70s cars when they switched from leaded to unleaded it might help with this ULSD we now have to use. I have noticed a difference in mine by1-1.5 on the lie -O-meter. My last half of a tank got 1 MPG better. I'll keep using until this bottle is empty by then I'll know.
Wasn't the lead in gas like a cushioning factor as well as an octane booster (which we don't need)? I'm thinking cushioning might also work like a lubricant for the pump and internals. It says on the bottle off-road and farm equipment....again I shall see.

So the Supertech marine or regular will suffice?, no need for anything better or other additives?
