RE: OT: Gun Question
Yup, I know Taurus and S&W both make hammerless .38 Spl's.
The S&W's are really nice. They have them in the titianium frame air weights that really nice for carry.
Based on my past experiences with Taurus, I'd go with the S&W. Can't say that I've ever been pleased with Taurus's overall quality and accuracy.

RE: OT: Gun Question
You didn't say you were specifically looking for a revolver. Colt made a great hammerless auto in .32 ACP and .380 ACP, Models 1903 and 1908. They were issued to Army and Air Force generals from the 1940s to the 1970s as concealment pistols. Here is a good example of one on Gunbroker. I have never fired one, but apparently they are extremely reliable and very concealable.
