Default 01 2500 diesel load

I was woundering if my 2001 2500 diesel will handle about a 15,000 load
was thinking about making a trip from NC to IN to pick up a piece of equipement
24 foot gooseneck will handle the load just dont know about the truck

I think the truck with a gooseneck is rated for 15-16k. So it should be no problem as long as you dont overload the rear axle of the truck. even at 20 percent tounge load your only puttin 3k on the axle.

I've pulled that with my 2500 several times. Just make sure your tires on your truck are load range E and fill them to the MAX PSI.

15K. . .you will need to look in the rear view mirror to make sure the trailer is still there

Sounds like a good warm up, just have your trailer brakes working in case of short stops and through the mountains.

I was thinking about maybe putting a edge chip in before the trip to help me with a lil more power
i have already had the best dodge machanic around to check the transmission and he says it'sfine but i know the automatic's aren't the best for reliability
but what good is having the truck if i cant use it

if you are going to use that edge box. . .use it on the lowest setting. . .anything more will cause your tranny to slip.

Most of the modules aren't recommended for towing with too much added power, they will make a lot of heat.

How about the edge ez chip i have heard it's a great low hp mod that is worth the money and safe to use with a factory transmission while towing

as long as you keep it low you will be fine. it will add some timeing which will keep EGT's lower, thus a cooler running engine.
