Default Transmission Question

Hi all. I'm new to Dodge Forum and new to Dodge trucks. My question is aboutmy 12Vdiesel (actually the transmission). When I'm cruising (at any speed) in high gear and then let off the accelerator, the rpm seems to drop to idle. Is that normal?

Thank you.

G23 (I'm assuming you're a Glock guy) [:-],

Welcome to the forum.

Do us a favor and give us a little more info on your truck.

The more you can give us, the more help you'll get.

But, it sounds perfectly normal. Just sounds like the TC unlocking and dropping down. Try doing it going down a hill, with the cruise control on and I bet if you start doing more than 5 MPH faste than the set cruise speed, it'll lock back up and provide some engine braking.

Wouldn't be too concerned by it.

Again, welcome to the club.

Enjoy,
Rich

Sounds fairly normal to me.

You just got this truck, right?

Here's a couple things to look for.

When cruising, with pressure on the accelerator and the TC locked up, if you apply more throttle, do the RPM's seem to go up but speed doesn't increase?

Is it bucking or shuddering under hard acceleration at gear changes?

Does it seem sluggish, lots of RPM but no movement?

Tranny fluid.....burnt smell, dark colored, low?

If it's not doing any of those, I'd say it's pretty normal.

Although, at 150K it could be getting ready for a rebuild. Not necessarilly because of the mileage, but depending on how the previous owner used / maintained it.

Of course not.

Why would you even think I would do something like that.

Not that I'm an XD guy or anything....

I would have pegged you for a kimber guy, with a 1 oz titanium trigger assembly, and compesated ported barrelandcustom grips.

You mean like this Kimber.....my Tactical Pro II.....

My XD's are just a "small" part of the collection. Got a Glock or two (21 and 22) in there as well.

Yeah, guns seem to be one of our other addictions around here.

BTW, I'm on my 5th XD.........haven't bought a Glock since. My 21 and 22 have been safe queens ever since I bought my first XD (XD45 Service).

To each there own though, there is nothing wrong with a Glock, I just don't like the grip shape and trigger pull on them.
