Dang, this is a hot topic. As you may know, I am a moderator in the Ram, 2nd gen, 3rd gen and 4th gen sections. I am not a moderator in the CTD section (yet). But I do spend alot of time in the CTD section. It is one of my favorite sections because as some have said, it is a tight knit group of people. A little while back, a member started a post that ended up offending some people. The people that were offended are regulars here, with some of the highest post counts in CTD. I received several phone calls at home and a crap load of PM's. The post was locked and life moved on. I do visit alot of the forums that I do not have mod rights in and have seen an increase in what some may consider OT posts. I didn't move every post that was OT in my sections. But since it has been decided that OT post need to be moved, I have to follow these rules. I don't have a good answer for this delima. I think an OT link in each section could work but that is not an option at this time. Ramitone has a good idea with the "CTD OT" heading in Off topic...If anyone has a better idea, PM me or call me. My number is below....

I'm more concerned with the fact that this website (all sections) is so freaking slow!! I can click on any thread in it, get up go get a drink, take a crap, whatever, and come back and the thread is still loading! JMHO but I'd think the admin people would be a little more concerned that their site is working efficiently rather than a bunch of OT threads! I believe this was brought up earlier but nothing seems to have been done about it.

Here is a novel idea!! Why not do it the AMERICAN way and have a vote on it?
Hold a vote site wide in ALL sections and let the "People" decide how the OT post should be handled.

I think the word for it is DEMOCRACY

hehehe cause polls are broken right now [8D]

I hate to say this but it is 'their' site. Yes some people have donated money to help the site. But honestly our membership here is at their discretion.

If they want to make it so you can't use blue smiley's they can. They run the place. We just use it. If we don't like it we can leave. I don't want anyone to go but if feathers are that ruffled that is what will happen.

We were all clearly notified when we created our account that the mod's have the ultimate power to do what they see best:

13. Moderators and Administrators have final word in anything and everything. If you have a problem or a complaint direct it to them, not to the general forums. They will then take the appropriate actions. This applies to issues with the forum in general, as well as issues with other members.

14.
We ask that members keep in mind membership is a privilege, NOT a right, and as a private forum, the administration and moderators have total say as to which members are, and are not allowed. The same rule applies for single posts and threads, and anything deemed to be inappropriate by any member of the staff will be removed. Members who continue to ignore this rule will be removed with no possibility of return.

While I may not be the most active member of the CTD section I try to participate as much as I can. I sat here and read all these posts and came to the conclusion that we are making a huge deal about nothing really. Granted some posts got moved, that according to Devil shouldn't have been moved because they weren't that OT. But it happens. Its not the end of the world and if one of our members made some people made, rubbed them the wrong way, however you want to put it. We will have to deal with it. Like in boot camp, if one person screws up, we're all gonna have to deal with it. Lets just move on and make the best of it. JMHO

I have yet to reply to this post, and the others that have since been moved asI had to step away. Some of the reasons posted by a few why OT should be allowed within the tech sections really pissed me off, I had replies typed and hit cancel. I feel much better today though. Sometimes you have to step back.

There were some compelling thoughts about allowing OT to stay, but you also saw some posts by some which shows why they can not remain. A few seem to want to reply to things they do not agree with and on occasion say something that they may not mean or possibly should have thought over a little longer, like I said evenI had to step away.

Derrickand David are correct. There were a few posts that had to be moved in the past few months due to content getting out of hand. Maybe the posters really meant it, maybe they were just having a bad day, maybe they replied in haste. Either way they had to be moved and caught the eye of the ones who keep the peace. As a result admins, site and section mods were all asked to move OT posts, actaully more than once. I for one did move a couple. I alsodid not move others as I know you like to keep a close community, one I can think of was Oiliver's post about his new upcomingbaby, that is a great thing to be proud of!

I think if you dig around the site you will see this is not a bad thing. There are other sections that can provide useful information. I have even posted items in this section about 3rd Gen Rams that were not CTD specific as I value the opinions of all members of the site. I have also noticed CTD owners posting info asking about more fuel efficient cars to aid in fuel costs. I know some members often post in 3rd Gen and in OT, they always have. This would indicate they enjoy this activity and given the chance I am sure everyone would.
