OK, well before I sell the smarty I decided to read my codes!

F***

THESE ARE THE CODES I GOT:

P0216 - Injection Pump TimingFailure

P1693 - DTC Detected in companion JTEC modeul

ANY IDEA WHAT THESE MEAN?

HOW much is a new VP44? should I got with a Hot Rod or a regular new one?

THIS SUCKS!

Hate to say it.....

But, I told ya.

[]

The Hot Rod will push more fuel, but it will also limit what you can tow with it, it that's a concern.

It can push so much fuel that controlling the EGT's is an issue.

If you are planning more upgrades (i.e. twins, bigger sticks, etc) then yeah go for the HR.

But, if you plan to tow heavy with it, stick with a standard one.

Yeah, you told me!

Well I tow sometimes and dont plan on anymore upgrades so I am pretty sure the plain VP44 will suit my needs. The cheapest one I found was $1,150 shipped then my buddy will install it for more....so I will keep looking while I try and get the funds..

for now I am truckless and it is parked out behind the barn

I will let yall know what I find..

thanks for the info

I'd go with a stock 44 over the hot rod. I think Viper is in the same boat.

I wonder if these failing 44's have anything to do with ULSD?

If $1170 isn't "bad at all" how about buying me a new smarty for my truck? It's only $685 right?

J/K sorry to hear about the VP troubles. Did you see if Parts/Service could hook you up?

There seems to be a bunch of dying VP44's here recently. I'm just curios if you guys with the dead VP44s are running Drew's Brew or 2 stroke?
