Default Quick Pyrometer Question

Ok, got it installed per the instructions I found on here (Thanks!!). It is installed BEFORE the turbo in the exhaust manifold.

My question is, how hot is considered too hot? I am all stock with the exception of a superchips programmer set in "tow" mode. I leave in two weeks for a cross country trip to Wyoming and the Tetons towing a 38' 5th wheel.

To the best of my knowledge you don't want anymore than 1200 degrees for any kind of extended period. I'm sure the heavy hitters on here will give you all the detail soon enough.

1200 seems to be the general consensus here.

1250 is the safe limit. You can run that all day long with no ill effects.

Short bursts into the 1350 range are okay, but not for sustained running.

It could, not likelythough. They are pretty durable. What do mean by jumps all around?

Is it an analog gauge or digital?

If its analog, I would say that more than likely it's the gauge, not the probe. Check your connections.

The analogs work on a sweeper motor and, like any other electronic component, it can go bad.
