Default Anyone go camping with their CTD? If so have a quesiton about a pick up camper.

I have an 03 2500 CTD with a short bed. Will a 10 Foot Sun-Lite pick up camper fit onto my truck? I read some articles onthe net that said it will with the tail gate down. the 8 foot beds have to take the tailgate out. So any suggestions?

To know for sure I would call the manufacturer.

cmharcou I have a 8.5 ft Northern Lite bed Camper. I don't have to remove the Tailgate fits and rides fine. Needed to raise the camper of the floor about 1-2 in due to the back Quad doors rubbing at the over the cab part. Otherwise all is fine. My camper bottom is flat all the way to the overhang back door. Some campers have crap hanging lower then the main floor, usuallyGry Water _Black water drain plumbing.

Another thing to keep in mind is Dodge doesn't "recommend" that the 2500 be used for slide in campers any more. You can't even order the package (overlods and sway bar) on a 2500 any more.[:@] So assuming you can fit it, don't forget the proper suspension mods to support it.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Even with the tailgate down and supporting some of the weight, you'll still have quite a bit hanging over which will make the front end awfull squirrely. I believe a 10 footer is too big for a shortbed, IMHO.

My buddy has an 11 footer in his long box ford, with the way it looks on his truck I can't imagine trying to put a 10 footer in a short box.

I got about 50+ ft hanging out the back, and seems to travel quite well

Pack your load right, heavier stuff forward. Strap a fat chick to the hood.
